Counters & Cabinets
Formica and cultured marble countertops can be resurfaced with
a solid custom color or redone with Stone-Flecks™. The multicolor
Stone-Flecks™ comes in a textured finish, not unlike a refrigerator
surface. Stone-Flecks™ cures to be one of the hardest and
most durable coatings in the industry. This coating resists scratches,
dings, and burns.
The resurfaced countertop or cabinet process is different from
bathtub reglazing.
1. The cabinet or countertop surfaces are sanded and
thoroughly cleaned with solvent.
2. The surrounding areas are covered with plastic, paper,
or drop cloths and the immediate areas are taped and masked off.
3. Cabinet doors can be removed and replaced later to
protect the hardware from being coated, or the doors can be left
on and the hinges coated in the European style.
4. The first coats are the epoxy primer and the finish
coats are the acrylic urethane enamel, typically in a matte finish.
Your resurfaced countertop or cabinet will be ready for use after
twenty-four (24) to fourty-eight (48) hours. It may take longer
for Stone-Flecks™ countertops. Stone-Flecks™ require
a longer curing process due to its unique characteristics. Countertops
can be refinished in one day, however, cabinet refinishing may
take up to three days.
